Editorial Reviews:

  • The Logitech Harmony 1100 gives you powerful home-entertainment control through a customizable, 3.5-inch full-color touch screen. Controls are easy to access and are backlit, so you can easily find them in the dark. One-touch, activity-based controls turn on the right devices in the right order with a single command. RF wireless capability lets you control devices without direct line-of-sight, so you can keep components in a closed cabinet or even another room (requires Logitech Harmony RF Extender, sold separately). The on-screen commands are customizable, so you get the commands you want, when you want them. The Harmony 1100 supports more than 5000 brands and over 225,000 devices.

  • Summary: Harmony 1100
  • Comment: The Harmony 1100 does a good job of controlling our home theater system. It has the ability to turn on and then set up numerous components for a specific activity, like watching TV, with a single button touch. If you then decided to change to a different activity, say, from watching TV to listening to music, with a single button it will turn off the unused TV components and activate any components needed to listen to music. When you are done listening to music, a single touch of the power command shuts everything down. A very versatile and useful tool to anyone with a fairly complicated system. Highly recommended.

  • Summary: I'm still not really impressed yet
  • Comment: I've had this for over a month and the jury is actually still out on it.

It was pretty easy to program, but I think it (the remote) still may be learning because it doesn't always do a great job perfoming the task (doesn't initiate or turn off all components that it is supposed to).

Doesn't do a good job controlling the XBox 360 at all. I basically still use the XBox controller.

Tv volume goes up and down in increments of two. Kind of annoying.

pretty laggy and you definitely need line of sight if you don't have the RF extender.

    Very expensive.

It definitely is weird feeling ergonomically, but that doesn't bother me too much.

Has a cool factor to it, but I'm still not convinced that its worth the price for what it actually does. There is a little less clutter on the table but I feel it's more cumbersome when I need to do specific tasks that aren't immediately available on the main menu's. It'd be easier to just use the original remotes.

Maybe should have gotten the 900.

  • Comment: The Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen let me down in the input source two-step process while in use with my Onkyo Home Theater AV Receiver TX-SR706. Set up of the Harmony 1100 was fun and fairly easy to do. However, there is no way that the unit could be set up to accommodate the two-step input source process that is a part of my AV Receiver. When I want to select or change an imput source I have to press the Receiver button on the remote, then press the appropriate input source button on the remote that I want, such as, CBL/SAT, DVD, PHONO, TUNER, TAPE, CD, etc. The Harmony 1100 will not accommodate this input source two-step process. Once the Action process is configured on the Harmony 1100, such as Watch TV, you are stuck with that choice. Receiver button, input source. Receiver button, input source....two steps. The Harmony 1100 will not accommodate this process on my AV Receiver. So, I had to return it. Other wise it is a neat little remote.
